Correct installation method of pump discharge pipeline

The installation of pump suction and discharge pipelines needs to consider multiple factors, including pipeline support, length and elbows, pipe diameter and reducer, gas removal, special devices, valves and instruments, etc. The correct installation method can ensure the efficient operation and long-term use of the pump.

Correct installation method of the discharge pipeline of the pump

Discharge pipeline installation method

Check valve and safety valve:

The discharge pipeline should be equipped with a check valve (or flap valve) to prevent fluid backflow and pump reversal.

For pumps that require stable flow and discharge pressure, a safety valve should also be installed at the outlet.

Diffuser:

A diffuser should be installed between the pump discharge port and the check valve to slow down the fluid flow rate, reduce noise and vibration.

The length of the diffuser should not be less than 5-7 times the difference between the large and small pipe diameters.

Pipeline configuration:

The discharge pipeline should not use T-shaped piping to prevent the reduction of metering accuracy due to siphoning after the pump is stopped.

When T-shaped piping is required, a vacuum breaker valve should be installed at the high point of the pipe.

Valves and instruments:

In order to adjust the working condition of the pump and observe the working condition of the system, a gate valve or stop valve and a pressure gauge should be installed on the discharge pipeline.

The pressure gauge should be kept away from elbows and valves as much as possible to reduce measurement errors.

Other precautions:

After the pipeline is installed, a pressure test should be carried out to check the sealing and strength.

For pumps running in parallel, a check valve should be installed at the outlet of each pump to ensure independent operation.
