The difference between pipeline sewage pump and vertical sewage pump
A centrifugal pump without a bottom valve may result in the following situations:
1、 Difficulty initiating
Need to refill water: Centrifugal pumps do not have self-priming function, and their impellers must be below the liquid level to work. If the centrifugal pump is not equipped with a bottom valve, it is necessary to fill the pump with liquid and exhaust air to form a vacuum state before each start, which increases the complexity and time cost of starting.
2、 Performance degradation
Liquid reflux: After the centrifugal pump stops working, if there is no bottom valve to prevent it, the liquid in the pipeline will reflux into the water tank or other storage containers. This not only wastes water resources, but may also lead to a decrease in liquid in the pipeline, affecting the pumping efficiency during the next start-up.
3、 Equipment damage
Idling risk: After a long period of shutdown, if the water inside the pump becomes dry, idling may occur when the pump is restarted. Empty transfer can cause serious damage to the impeller, bearings, and other components of the water pump, shortening the service life of the equipment.
Reverse risk: For centrifugal pumps with high head or long outlet pipelines, if a bottom valve is not installed, the backflow of water may cause the pump body to reverse, further leading to serious consequences such as mechanical damage or impeller detachment.
4、 Increased maintenance costs
Frequent maintenance: Due to the fact that centrifugal pumps are more prone to start-up difficulties, performance degradation, and equipment damage without bottom valves, they require more frequent maintenance and upkeep, which increases maintenance and time costs.
In summary, centrifugal pumps do not have some issues with bottom valves. Therefore, in most cases, it is recommended to install bottom valves for centrifugal pumps to ensure their normal operation and extend their service life. At the same time, when installing the bottom valve, attention should also be paid to details such as the type, installation position, and maintenance of the bottom valve to ensure that it can function properly.
