How to deal with oil leakage at the end cover of the bearing box of a large mixed flow pump
Oil leakage at the end cover of the bearing box of a large mixed flow pump is a common problem. Dealing with such problems requires comprehensive consideration of multiple aspects. Here are some recommended treatment methods:
1. Check and replace the oil seal
Check the oil seal: First, check whether the oil seal at the end cover of the bearing box is damaged or aged. The oil seal is a key component to prevent lubricating oil leakage. If the oil seal is worn or aged, it should be replaced in time.
Replace the oil seal: Remove the damaged oil seal, clean the installation position, and then install a new oil seal. During the installation process, ensure that the oil seal is installed in the correct position to avoid oil leakage caused by improper installation.
2. Use sealant or leak-stopping agent
Sealant: In the absence of replacing a new oil seal, sealant can be used to temporarily solve the oil leakage problem. First, clean the oil leaking area, then apply sealant and apply it evenly to the oil leaking area. Be careful not to apply too thick a thickness to avoid affecting the normal operation of the machine. After application, the sealant needs to be allowed to dry naturally for at least 12 hours to ensure its effectiveness.
Leak-stopping agent: Leak-stopping agent is a liquid with special functions, which can form a protective film at the leak to prevent oil leakage. Pour an appropriate amount of leak-stopping agent into the bearing box and evenly apply it to all oil leakage links of the bearing box. However, when using the leak-stopping agent, be careful not to let it enter the machine.
3. Strengthen sealing measures
Add a felt seal ring: Add a felt seal ring in the end cover, and open a drainage hole connected to the felt groove on the end cover. In this way, even if the oil leaks into the felt ring, it can be drained into the box through the drainage hole under the action of centrifugal force, thereby effectively cutting off the leakage channel.
Ensure the tightness of the sealing ring: When using a felt ring, it should be noted that the number of joints should not exceed one, the cross-section of the joint should be closely connected to each other, and the surface of the felt ring should be clean. At the same time, the size of the felt ring and the felt groove should be selected from the standard according to the diameter of the shaft, and ensure the matching tolerance of the shaft and the inner hole of the felt ring.
4. Check and adjust the installation
Check the installation: Check the installation of the bearing box and the motor or other drive equipment to ensure the coaxiality between them. Misalignment will cause the shaft to jump and increase the risk of leakage.
Adjust the installation: If the installation is found to be misaligned, the installation position should be readjusted to ensure that the coaxiality between them meets the requirements.
5. Ensure that the vent is unobstructed
Ensuring the pressure balance inside and outside the gearbox is the key to preventing leakage. Therefore, the vent should be unobstructed so that the gas can be discharged in time when the temperature in the box rises and the gas expands to maintain the internal and external pressure balance.
6. Other precautions
Regular maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain the bearing box and its sealing components to detect and deal with potential problems in time.
Use appropriate lubricants: Ensure that the lubricants used meet the equipment requirements to avoid leakage problems caused by inappropriate lubricants.
Pay attention to environmental factors: Consider the impact of environmental factors on the equipment, such as temperature, humidity, etc., and take corresponding measures to reduce their impact on the equipment.
