There are five main leakage points of mechanical seals for pumps. These leakage points vary according to the structure and working environment of the mechanical seal, but usually include the following aspects:

1.Seal between dynamic and static rings:

This is the main sealing surface of the mechanical seal, which determines the friction, wear and sealing performance of the seal. According to statistics, about 80%~90% of the leakage is caused by the friction surface. Therefore, the sealing effect between the dynamic and static rings is crucial.

2.Seal between sleeve and shaft:

This is a static seal, and the compatibility of the material and the medium must be considered. If the seal between the sleeve and the shaft fails, the medium may leak from this place.

3.Seal between dynamic ring and sleeve:

The seal between the dynamic ring and sleeve is also one of the key points to prevent medium leakage. If the fit between the dynamic ring and the sleeve is not tight or there is wear, it may cause leakage.

4.Seal between the sealing end cover and the pump body:

The seal between the sealing end cover and the pump body is also one of the important leakage points. If the seal between the sealing end cover and the pump body is not tight, it may cause the medium to leak from this place.

5.The seal between the static ring and the static ring seat: This is an auxiliary sealing surface and one of the key points to determine the sealing performance. The sealing effect between the static ring and the static ring seat directly affects the sealing performance of the entire mechanical seal. 

For the leakage problem of mechanical seals for pumps, the following measures can be taken to prevent and solve it: 

During the installation process, the flatness and cleanliness of each sealing surface should be ensured to avoid bumping and damaging the sealing surface during installation. 

Select the appropriate sealing ring material and size, and ensure that the sealing ring is properly installed and pressed. 

Regularly check and maintain the mechanical seal to detect and deal with leakage problems in a timely manner. 

During operation, pay attention to controlling the speed and medium pressure of the pump to avoid excessive axial force and vibration. 

In addition, when the mechanical seal for the pump leaks, it is necessary to analyze and judge according to the specific situation, find out the cause of the leakage and take corresponding solutions. For example, if the leakage is caused by the uneven contact surface of the dynamic and static rings, it can be solved by re-grinding or replacing the dynamic and static rings; if the leakage is caused by aging or damage of the sealing ring, it can be solved by replacing a new sealing ring.
