Self-priming pump protection device

26-08-2024

The protection devices of self-priming pumps are important components to ensure the safe and stable operation of self-priming pumps. They can respond in time under various abnormal conditions to protect the pump body from damage. The following are some common self-priming pump protection devices and their functions:

1. Electrical protection device

Phase loss protector: used to monitor whether the three-phase power supply is phase-loss. Once the phase loss is detected, the power supply is immediately cut off to prevent the motor from being damaged due to phase loss. This protection device is widely used in various motor equipment, including self-priming pumps.

Overload protector: When the motor running current exceeds its rated value, the overload protector will start, cut off the power supply or reduce the motor load to protect the motor from being burned. For self-priming pumps, the overload protector can prevent motor overload caused by pump body blockage, excessive liquid viscosity, etc.

Thermal relay: Determine whether it is overheated by monitoring the temperature of the motor. When the motor temperature exceeds the set value, the thermal relay will act to cut off the power supply to prevent the motor from being damaged due to overheating. The thermal relay is an indispensable part of the electrical protection system of the self-priming pump.

2. Mechanical protection device

Bottom valve and check valve: The bottom valve is used to prevent the pump body from sucking in foreign matter, while the check valve is used to prevent instantaneous backflow during shutdown. These two valves work together to protect the pump body from damage caused by sucking in foreign matter or backflow.

Bearing protection device: The bearing of the self-priming pump is one of the key components that bear the load of the pump body. In order to extend the service life of the bearing, some self-priming pumps are equipped with bearing protection devices, such as bearing lubrication systems and bearing temperature monitoring devices. These devices can ensure that the bearings operate under good lubrication and temperature conditions, reducing wear and failure.

3. Intelligent control protection device

Liquid level controller: The liquid level in the pump body is monitored by devices such as float switches or electronic liquid level sensors. When the liquid level is lower than the set value, the liquid level controller will automatically start the water injection system or send an alarm signal to prevent the pump body from idling due to low liquid level. This protection device plays a key role in preventing the self-priming pump from idling.

Intelligent motor protector: An intelligent device that integrates multiple protection functions and can monitor the current, voltage, temperature and other parameters of the motor in real time. Once an abnormal situation is detected, the intelligent motor protector will immediately cut off the power supply or send out an alarm signal to protect the motor from damage. This protection device has a high level of automation and intelligence, which can significantly improve the operating safety and reliability of the self-priming pump.
