Structural Analysis of Submersible Sewage Pumps

05-06-2024

Submersible sewage pumps are mainly composed of motors, pump bodies, impellers, volutes, sealing devices and other parts. These parts work together to realize the function of pumping sewage from low places to high places or transporting it over long distances.

Analysis of main components:

1. Motor:

The motor of a submersible sewage pump usually adopts a fully enclosed, water-lubricated, water-cooled submersible three-phase asynchronous motor. This motor is resistant to high temperatures and corrosion, and can ensure stable operation in harsh sewage environments.

The motor is connected to the power supply through a cable to drive the pump body to work. The power and speed of the motor are determined according to the model and working conditions of the pump.

2. Pump body:

The pump body is the main part of the submersible sewage pump, usually made of corrosion-resistant materials such as cast iron or stainless steel. The inner cavity of the pump body is reasonably designed to reduce water flow resistance and improve the efficiency of the pump.

The pump body is provided with a water inlet and a water outlet, the water inlet is connected to the suction pipe, and the water outlet is connected to the drainage pipe. There are also components such as guide vanes or guide covers inside the pump body to guide water flow and reduce eddy current losses.

3. Impeller:

The impeller is one of the key components of the submersible sewage pump. It generates centrifugal force through high-speed rotation, sucking sewage from the water inlet and pushing it to the outlet.

The impeller is usually made of materials such as stainless steel or cast iron, and is corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant. The shape and size of the impeller are designed according to the requirements of the pump flow and head.

4. Volute:

The volute is another important component of the submersible sewage pump. It is located outside the impeller and is used to collect the liquid thrown out of the impeller and guide it to the outlet.

The volute consists of a front cover plate and a rear cover plate, and is usually made of materials such as cast iron or stainless steel. The volute is designed with components such as diffusers to reduce the liquid flow rate and reduce energy loss.

5. Sealing device:

The submersible sewage pump needs to keep the pump body sealed from the outside during operation to prevent liquid leakage. Therefore, the sealing device is an indispensable component of the submersible sewage pump.

The sealing device usually adopts a double-end mechanical seal or a combination of a mechanical seal and a packing seal. Mechanical seals are composed of moving rings, stationary rings, sealing rings and other components, and the fit of the sealing surface is maintained by springs or bellows and other components. Packing seals achieve the sealing effect by filling soft materials (such as asbestos rope).
